Judging panel
We invited bar teams who know a lot about Mezcal. If we heard through the grapevine "Marcel makes excellent cocktails", we invited her. We gave a £500 prize for the best Mezcalita, plus dinner at... Mecalito London. We had some of the most favoured bar tenders in London turn up, see pictures above.
We run International Mezcalita Day
Every year, because you know why? The Margs made Tequila famous, and we believe the Mezcalita will make Mezcal famous!
We ran blind tastings
Without being blind drink, please drink responsibly. Tasting each Mezcalita and keeping a note of who drank what.
Ratings
The ratings were based on the taste of the cocktail and the taste of the Mezcal within the cocktail.
Tasting note guidelines
Guidelines given to be reported on were; Fruity, Smoky, Herbal, Floral, Earthy, Spicy, Sweet, Minerality of the Mezcal and just outright deliciousness of the Mezcalita.
